The Ego, Why It Can Be Persuasion And Influence’s Biggest Challenge

Your ego goes to work whenever someone challenges your abilities, especially your abilities to take care of your business, your quick and instinctive reaction is to show them they are wrong! When using this tactic, be cautious not to damage the ego. EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: If you cause damage instead of creating a challenge, you are producing and air of indifference from your prospect.

In a team environment sports coaches commonly use another challenge to player’s egos. Lets say during practice a player isn’t trying very hard, is continually late for team meetings, or keeps making the same mistake again and again. The coach uses a perfect ego based remedy. He’ll bring the team together and explain what is happening with the individual player and the he makes the whole team except for that player run laps. The punishment is a challenge to the ego of this football player. Such a situation only has to happen once to be persuasive for every member of the team.

There are many challenging messages geared towards our egos. Think of a multilevel marketing meeting, where managers say they are looking for “go-getters” and “people who can take action.” Or what about a teacher who tells the student, “I’d like you to do these advanced assignments”? I have seen sales representatives make a subtle attack on the prospect’s ego when they were not getting the sale. They simply say, “I guess you don’t have the authority to make that decision.” You should see the egos take action!

Another way is to give people credit for things they don’t know. When you do this they will generally say nothing and allow you to believe them to be smarter and more aware than they really are. Then they will try to live up to the undeserved credit you have just bestowed upon them, just so they can lead you to believe they are really smart. Here are a couple more phrases that are direct challenges to our egos, “You probably already know….” or “You will soon realize…”

When it comes to persuasion we are faced with a very tricky task of building up the egos of our prospects and placing our egos on hold. To be effective at persuasion you have to let go you your ego and focus on the objective at hand. You don’t want to have to deal with a bruised ego. So check your ego at the door and remember your overriding purpose is on persuasion and not you.

Kenneth Copeland: His Biography

Kenneth Copeland was an American born on 6th Dec 1936 at Lubbock, Texas. He was the originator of the Christian organization called Kenneth Copeland Ministries. He was also a well known Author, Speaker and Television personality who promoted the word of faith. He was a talented singer and a recording artist and gave very popular numbers. The “Pledge of love” was his very popular composition which appeared in the list of Billboard Top 40 hit on 20th April 1957. It stayed in the chart for fifteen weeks and touched the 12th position in the list.

He converted to Christianity in November, 1962 and started working on the Christian Ministry. Before this conversion he had been the chauffeur of Oral Roberts and in 1967 he got himself enrolled at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

During 1970’s the KCM grew and became popular among people. The Ministry had it is headquarter at Newark, Texas and its international locations were at Australia, Africa, Canada, United Kingdom and Ukraine. They were actively involved in prison inmate’s ministries in various countries.

After his conversion to Christianity, Kenneth initiated a new brand of Christian religion known as The Prosperity Theology. Some of his ideas and teachings in this work are controversial with some sections of the Christian community. Copeland’s daily television program “Believer’s Voice of Victory” became popular and in November 2007 Mike Huckabee, a Republican presidential primary candidate during 2008 made six appearances on this program. Mike Huckabee’s campaign supported the Kenneth Ministries and paid for its use for a fundraiser.

The Kenneth Ministries established a private airport at Fort Worth, Texas with a name Kenneth Copeland Airport. KCM had raised the prison inmate’s ministry in different countries. This ministry taught and bought peace even in the prison cells. KCM did write letters for the prison inmates for giving them lessons for having patience and peace. The KCM has been working hard to share the power of the blessed life to those behind bars over these years. They help the prisoners by giving those books and other resources for chaplains. They even have been donated some amount to build up a chapel for the prison inmates.

In 1995 the Barber ministries enabled the KCM to broadcast the Eagle Mountain Motorcycle Rally live via satellite to inmates in Texas and other states. Many state prisoners received the satellite broadcast of this rally.

With lot of followers the ministry is becoming very popular and lot of new people joining it every month it is growing very rapidly. Kenneth along with his wife Gloria Copeland and will his staff are spreading the word of faith and peace throughout the world. Kenneth’s philosophy and teaching to everyone is to have a positive approach towards life.

With each day the ministries are growing with every month around 3,404 inmates joining the group. Even the KCM sharing their views and ideas through mailing list has remarkably been able to develop faith in many people. Time Management Journal: How to Use a Time Management Log

By using a time management log you will learn how to have a more balanced life. It will answer questions such as where do you spend your time? When are you most alert? What do you procrastinate about?

If you use your time management log effectively – you will be setting yourself up to be in charge of your own life. Your time journal doesn’t have to be fancy, a notebook and pencil works just as good as any high-tech options.

A simple time management log will be the most successful. If you try to make it to complicated, chances are you wont continue to use it for enough time to know if it is successful or not. Use your time journal for a minimum of 3 days, but a week is better. Record all events including personal, home, work and rec recreation. You don’t have to put all the nitty gritty details, but recording them will help you to see where you are spending your time most.

At the end of the day, if you don’t use your time management log -no-one is going to use it for you. To make the most of it, keep writing in it for the 3 or 7 days. If you want to include more details you could color code your time journal, or use an “A, B, C” priority system.

Record how you feel after certain tasks, particularly during work time. Note when you spend a lot of time wasting time or procrastinating. Record your most productive part of the day. Why was it productive? How can you make each day have more productive time? Identify what areas of time management are not your strengths, and the times when you do quite well.

A time management log is a big picture exercise. On completion you should have an eagles eye view of how you are spending your time, so it will be easier to then plan how you really want to spend it. Use your time journal to take back control of your life.

Are The Mormons Associated With The Freemasons?

The Mormons take great offense to being referred to as a cult. Yet that the true meaning of the word cult is a system of religious worship. The question that arises, is the Mormon religion a true cult? The problem is that the Mormons believe that when the word cult is used that it is referred to as a unfavorable religion such as one that is made up of horrid things that are taking place amongst that religion. For the most part but that is the general consensus when people are referring to cults. The Mormons will stand on the fact that no they are not a cult and there is nothing that they teach or do that is unhealthy in any shape or form.

The Mormons do have temples of which is like a Christian church. Their church is called the Church of latter-day Saints and they do believe in carrying out specific ordinances or ceremonies much like many other religions.

One of the interesting points though is that the Mormons have a close similarity to the Freemasons. In some respects in order to protest what they stand on and believe they will go to great lengths to explain why they are not fitting in to the term cult. They will tell you that cult means that devotion is being paid to some individual and they will claim that yes as that part of it, it is in comparison because they believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is an individual but they will go on to talk about how the meaning of cult means that it is a group of people that believe in suicide or chasing the stars or satanic rituals. Most people will admit that this is not something that the Mormons have been accused of.. So therefore this is their stance for not being a cult. So basically what they’re doing here is a play of words by taking the attention off of the many fallacies that they do teach and putting the emphasis on the unpleasant terms related to the word cult. It really becomes a mind game to the individual that is listening to this. Automatically the compassion goes to the Mormon knowing that they do not carry out these traits. So the fact of what they really do teach is not being addressed.

It is interesting to note that members of the church will give you several things to question as to whether or if their organization is valid or not. Some examples of this is that they will point out that there are other groups that are different and yet are still accepted by the Christian faith.

They will state the comparison to Christianity today with the Christians of the Bible would be excluded to what is considered now a Christian.

They will challenge whether the definition used by Christians as being a fair definition. These are questions that are raised in order to show that basically what Christians are using as their form of judgment is unfair towards the Mormons themselves.

Thinking of A Central Innovation Team?

The central innovation team is a model which is well adopted in many industries. In Parma, for example, research and development budgets tend to be held in large business units which are dedicated to the innovation function. And in Banking as an another example, there are likely to be many small New Product Development teams, each of which is accountable for the innovation in a particular business line. Even in Government, there’s increasing reliance on central innovation teams, in the never-ending pursuit of efficiency and cost savings.

Understanding the reason is not difficult. Central teams are simple to establish, and very easy to measure compared to alternatives which rely on an “innovation culture”. It is easy to point to such teams and say “here is how we do innovation“. These are teams which make executives feel good about their innovation efforts, because when you can nominate specific individuals and assign accountability, you know things are being done.

Now, in this model, the innovation team is the group that decides how and when to innovate. They ordinarily control an investment budget of some kind, and are accountable for making investments that drive forward the innovation agenda. If they are any good at all, they will sign up to some big return numbers that can justify the investments they’re making.

There is, however, a problem with a central innovation team that does everything. The problem is that in order to get more innovation, you are forced to add more people. In other words, central innovation teams do not scale well.

Frankly, for most innovations, the difference in effort required to get an organisation to do something radical, versus the easier incremental kind of innovation, is not all that great. You still have to do the influencing, the management of politics, and of course, find the money in order to get things progressed.

Incremental innovation, though it tends to be relatively risk free, doesn’t really make big returns on a case by case basis. This means that innovation teams have to do a lot of simultaneous innovation before they can make a sizeable difference. With a central team, the fact is that a single incremental innovation will likely not pay for the time of the innovators.

By contrast, doing things which are more radical provide better returns, but at a much greater risk level. This makes it seem sensible for innovators to select radical innovations for their portfolio. Given the choice of almost certainly not breaking even, and at least the chance of a big payoff, most teams will select the latter.

What is really needed to make innovation work in large organisations is a balanced approach which combines a portfolio with inputs from customers and employees. Participatory innovation, as this is known, helps the central innovation team reduce its costs per innovation, and is usually the best way to make an innovation programme work in large organisations.

If you need to stop panic attacks for good, confronting them head on is the handiest way. Rather than fighting against the assault, allow it to come and finished. To put it another way, ride out the storm of an anxiety attack.

This is suggested for two very important reasons.

1) The first is that fear begets fear. The more that you struggle against and try to prevent the anxiety attack, the more fear you may produce. Fear essentially feeds on itself and causes the attack to become even more intense.

Yet if you confront the attack head on, it continuously loses its force and energy as it has zilch to feed off. A good analogy of this is riding a roller coaster. You may have spotted that fear and anxiety grow the more you resist and struggle against the movement of the ride. as you go with the flow of the ride, the more enjoyable the ride becomes.

There’s an axiom, what you resist continues.

2) The second reason is that the more you try and avoid or escape the anxiety attack, all that you’re doing is avoiding the effects till the next episode.

However if you confront the attack, accept it for what it is and ride it out, you’ll discover that there actually was no true danger to be afraid of or worry about. You may notice that your worst fears were not grounded actually. No harm came on you in any way.

The more that you face your attacks head and come out unharmed and OK, the more you’ll come to understand that your biggest fears are just the product of your thoughts, not a real, clear, and present danger.

This knowledge will help you to see your attacks for what they are and will give you the faith and nerve to face future episodes. Ultimately, you may know the way to stop panic attacks for good.
